I think the kindle is going for the right approach with the ipad. The ipad is a direct competitor and they need to expose its faults. On the other hand, apple is aware of the small difficulties with the ipad and seeking to fix them. However the focus should not be on price since the ipad is a much more diverse product than just an ereader.
Creative commercial, that does exactly what it is suppose to do. Kindle needed to create a value for its product to beat out its main competitor, the ipad and it seems that they were able to do just that with this commercial.
The Kindle and iPad are very different. The Kindle offers the e-reader, while the iPad has multiple uses. To gain attention to the Kindle the commercial was the right way to gain consumers attention. Apple I'm sure will come up with a solution to their tech problems. After that, the Kindle will still need to compete with the iPad.
