Very interesting and not too far away from us in Harrisburg. They wanted the students to expierience life without technology.

  1. Great article and interesting idea. I'd be curious to see if other universities follow this model and try to enact the same type of ban on campus. I would bet that many students aren't able to survive with only e-mail for an entire week. Many will probably turn to their smartphones and friends off-campus to get their social media fill for the week.

  2. This is an extremely interesting article. I bet the students got a lot more done during that week without facebook twitter etc.distracting them. Since they just had email-It also raises the question of did they try to explore other types of social networks during that week to fill the gap such as google talk or friend connect?

  3. I found this article very interesting. I remember when I didn't have my laptop for a week while it was getting repaired. At the time I thought it was horrible, but I started to find other things to do and use my time more wisely with less distractions such as Facebook or Twitter. The students probably got more work done, but I;m sure they found other ways to talk to eachother over the internet.

  4. I think that the University is taking steps in the right direction with banning facebook. This is so that the students will have more time to focus on their academics.
